The Free State Department of Public Works announced on Wednesday that the refurbishing of the Ratlou Complex in Thaba Nchu, is underway.
MEC Dora Kotzee mentioned that the second phase commenced in April this year. The dilapidated complex used to be a shopping hub before 1994 when Thaba Nchu was still under the Bophuthatswana regime.
Kotzee alluded that they will bring government services closer to the Thaba Nchu community and surrounding areas by converting the complex into a multi-government department complex.
“We anticipate that by September 2016, we will have completed office accommodation for the Departments of Premier, Education, Economic, Small Businesses Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs. Many work opportunities will have been created. The Free State executive council, led by the visionary Premier Ace Magashule, is committed to the eradication of the triple challenges of poverty, inequality and unemployment.”
