Tension on CUT campus as students storm library

A group of students caused disruption at the Bloemfontein campus of the Central University of Technology (CUT) when they stormed the library today.

They then forced students in the library to evacuate. CUT spokesperson Dan Maritz, says the although it has quiet down, there is still tension on the campus.

This comes after the campus reopened this morning after it was shut down by students taking part in the national #FeesMustFall campaign. Meanwhile the CUT management, concerned parents are set to meet student leadership this afternoon.

Maritz confirmed the meeting is going to take place at the campus this afternoon. Maritz says the stakeholders are going to talk about the way forward.

Police and security were still monitoring the situation a short while ago.
