An inquest docket has been opened at the Kagisanong Police Station in Bloemfontein after a 15-year-old boy drowned at a local quarry yesterday afternoon.
According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, the incident took place in Bloemanda Phase 2 at a quarry that is situated near an open space in the area.
“According to reports, a group of children were playing at the quarry yesterday at about 13:00 when the 15-year-old-boy slipped into the deeper end and drowned,” said Makhele.
Members of the South African Police Services were summoned to the scene where their diving unit later retrieved the lifeless body of the young boy. The boy was later positively identified by a family member who resides in the area.
