Teen (14) among women rescued from brothel in Bfn

Ten women, including a 14-year-old teenage girl, have been rescued from a brothel in Bloemfontein.

The Hawks spokesperson, Lynda Steyn, says members of the Hawks and Public Order Policing visited a flat in Nelson Mandela Drive on Sunday where a 27-year-old suspect alleged to be running a brothel was arrested and the women were rescued.

Steyn told OFM News the ladies are alleged to be prostitutes living under his command. She says 24 small packets of drugs, a journal with the amounts of money each of the ladies made per day, condoms and pipes used to smoke drugs were found in the flat and confiscated. She confirms the women rescued have been taken to a place of safety while the 14-year-old teenager has been handed over to social workers.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
