A police task team was set up in the Free State to investigate the alleged shooting and poisoning cattle of emerging farmers in the Hoopstad area by a commercial farmer.
MEC for police, Butana Komphela, and senior police officials visited the the emerging farmers.
Komphela said he was shocked by the allegations.
The emerging farmers say a commercial farmer has been shooting and poisoning their cattle since 2008. They say they have lost 45 animals so far.
The most recent incident is alleged to have taken place on the 1st of June when five cattle were killed and two were wounded.
Komphela suggested that the Tswelopele Municipality erect a fence so that animals do not stray into the premises of a commercial farmer in the area.
He also ordered a task team to investigate the alledged killings of the animals.
