As a domestic tourist you have no need to travel to far away places which will cost you an arm and a leg while your hometown has amazing natural sites to visit.
Thaba Nchu is one of the Free State towns that has many tourist attractions. Recently more than 50 people visited Bodulong Lodge to embark on a mountain hike to view nature. They started with breakfast and an aerobics session and ended off the day with a networking session.
Kenneth Ngakantsi, one of the organisers of the event, told Voice that the day was one of their most successful so far this year.
“This was the first time we hosted an event of this nature here in Thaba Nchu. And although there will always be challenges, like the one climber who got injured, everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The incident almost changed the whole mood of the event, but because of our medical personnel’s quick response, we still had an exciting climb.
“We were happy to see young and old coming together at the event. There was excitement all round. This was a way of showing our people that they need to explore their hometowns first before travelling to other places. Everyone needs to know what natural sites their hometowns have.”
Ngakatsi said Tswellopele Branding Enterprise Management noted all areas of improvement, such as limited participation, an alternate route for first-time climbers, as well as proper guidance.
“We would like to thank everyone who made this event a success. We will be hosting another hiking climb on 16 June to celebrate Youth Day with the theme ‘Know where you come from’,” he concluded.
