Die Sentraal Gauteng atleet, William Potgieter was egter oor die laaste 200 m te sterk vir Meintjies en het goud om die nek gehang in ‘n haastige 3:52,97. The Free State’s star race walker, Chauke Mthembi, will fight it out for gold at the South African athletics championships for sub-youth, youth juniors and u.23 athletes.
