Suspected vandalism of an Eskom structure on the Rouville-Zastron 66 kV line outside Rouxville in the Free State led to an interruption of supply to Smithfield, Zastron and Rouxville and surrounding rural customers.
Eskom says in a statement that while restoration of the affected structure is still underway, temporary supply to all customers was restored at 11:12 this morning.
“Another short interruption can, however, be expected at around 20:00 today when switching to the permanent supply is being completed.
During the supply interruption period, electricity users are urged to treat all electrical lines, sockets and appliances as live and dangerous.”
The power utility apologises for the inconvenience and assures customers that the repairs are being attended to with the required urgency.
