A 23-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Harrismith Magistrate’s Court soon after being charged under the Disaster Management Act.
This after he had been arrested and detained for transporting liquor in a funeral parlour vehicle during the adjusted Level 3 Regulations.
According to a statement by SAPS, the Phuthaditjhaba POP task team received information that a person was transporting liquor in a funeral parlour vehicle in the early hours of the New Year’s day.
The vehicle was traced and found in Harrismith in the Free State. The vehicle was searched and liquor valued at R5000 was confiscated and the suspect arrested.
