The School of Music at North West University in Potchefstroom has just announced that four study bursaries worth R20,000 each will be awarded to deserving first-year students for the 2014 academic year. All candidates who apply for admission and who complete the auditions in September will be considered for these bursaries.
Prospective music students can still apply for admission and an audition until 31 August 2013. Contact the NWU Admissions Office at 018-299-2642 for an application form and further information about the required documents and application fee, or visit the website at http://www.nwu.ac.za/prospective-students/study-potchefstroom-pukke.
Due to the recent appointment of a full-time brass lecturer, the School of Music will now also consider applications for trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba and French horn. Instruction is still available in vocal studies, piano, organ, flute, saxophone, bassoon, violin, cello, classical guitar, and now also jazz guitar.
All undergraduate applications for music studies are subject to a selection process that will be conducted on the first two Saturdays in September (7 and 14 September 2013) at the Conservatory in Potchefstroom. The application form for selection can be downloaded at the School of Music’s website at www.nwu.ac.za/music or requested from 018-299-1692 or music@nwu.ac.za and must be completed and returned as soon as possible.
A special "Guide for Applications, Selection and Admission", with complete information on the procedures and requirements, is available to assist prospective music students with the process and can also be downloaded at the School of Music website.
