Two suspects made their first court appearance on Monday 31 August 2020 in the Bultfontein Magistrate’s Court in connection of the murder of an 11-year-old girl. The case was postponed for legal representation and the two suspects will appear again on 4 September 2020.
The suspects are 26-year-old Joseph Ramakhala and 30-year-old Tshidiso Molefi (30) who is a stepfather to the deceased, Lerato Nkenjani. According to Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, this comes after the Lejweleputswa Detective Task Team, led by Lieutenant-Colonel Mzuvukile Gushana, assisted Bultfontein SAPS Detective Unit members to crack a murder case of the minor girl who was mysteriously murdered after visiting her grandmother in Phahameng, Bultfontein.
“Her body was found on Thursday 13 August 2020 next to the R708 road in Phahameng with her hands and legs fastened with a wire that seemed to have been used to strangle her,” said Makhele.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Baile Motswenyane, applauded members who worked tirelessly to ensure that suspects are arrested. “Furthermore, we also thank the community members of Phahameng for all their efforts in assisting us with valuable information that enabled us to deal with these criminals accordingly,” concluded Lt-Gen Motswenyane.
