Start off Women’s Day with some fitness

Organiser and Zumba instructor, Adelaine van der Merwe

Bloemfontein residents can spend their Women’s Day morning with a bit of fun exercise at the Women’s Day Outdoor Aerothon, which will be held on 9 August 2019 at Virgin Active in Fichardt Park, from 08:00 until 10:30.

Organiser and instructor, Adelaine van der Merwe, said the aim of the event is to promote Zumba in the community. “People are not aware that Zumba, instructed by me, is available at Virgin Active. I also offer private classes in Heidedal. Zumba is a fun way to exercise in a party sort of way. Watching international videos online, we can see large groups of people having great fun while also getting their fitness in,” she said.

First up on Friday will be Ben Zwane, who will be doing the warm-up for 10 minutes. After that, Teddy B will lead a 20-minute dance session. “And then it will be a 15-minute break when our MC, Wendell Darylson, will have a great surprise in store for us. Then we will have Zumba for 30 minutes, than a 10 minutes break, then even more Zumba,” said Van der Merwe.

“Everyone is welcome, from the youngest to the oldest in the family, especially the men. I don’t know why men have the idea that Zumba is only for women, maybe it’s because Zumba has a lot of hip movement and dancing. But there are a lot of male instructors in the world as Zumba is an international thing,” she concluded.
