Standard Bank presents the fourth Standard Bank Business relay taking place at the University of the Free State’s (UFS) cross country fields at the university’s sportsground.

The business relay has now grown from the initial 87 teams, to 203 teams in 2023, and the bank is hoping to increase it to 250 teams for this year’s relay. Competing, connecting, communicating and collaborating is this year’s theme.

The exciting event is set to commence on 5 October from 07:00 to 12.00 and is aimed at getting Bloemfontein moving, running or walking.

“The business relay is aimed at creating a platform for businesses to strengthen relationships with current clients and to connect with prospective clients but to also enhance cohesion amongst colleagues, managers and all staff and to compete in a friendly, active environment,” said Tertia de Bruin and Eslo Coetzee, who are the organisers of The Relay Company.

De Bruin further added that each team consists of four runners or walkers who will do 4 km each and that businesses can still enter until 2 October at R680 per team “Approximately 35 different business teams have entered and we are expecting two or more teams. There are eight different categories: law, health and fitness, building and construction, general businesses, finance and banking, friends and family, open men and open ladies,” De Bruin confirmed.

She further mentioned that each category team winner will receive R500 per runner and goodie bags worth R350 will be given to each participant.
