St. Michael’s School in Brandwag has been named the only Platinum school in the province for achieving a 100% pass rate, as well as a 100% Bachelors pass rate.
According to the principal, Braam Van Wyk, they are proud of the fact that they are the only Platinum school. “We are proud of the fact that we have had a 100% Bachelors pass rate three times during the previous nine years. We also have had a 100% pass rate for 42 consecutive years.”
Van Wyk said that this achievement was made possible through hard work and committed staff. “The staff offers extra classes in the afternoons, as well as weekends. They also provide extra resources. Staff are also available for individual walk-in sessions.”
He also told Bloemfontein Courant that it is difficult to keep learners positive during a year filled with immense pressure to perform. “But we believe in the fact that we are a small school where learners receive extra attention. It is also important to have a balanced programme at school that also allow for fun activities.”
Van Wyk believes that success breeds success. “The fact that the School performs really well in academics serves as a motivational factor to the following grade to follow in the footsteps or to do better.”
He congratulated the Class of ‘21 on their results, as well as the staff. “We’re really proud of each and every learner and educator. I want to thank God for all His blessings on the school. I would also like to tell the Class of ’22 that we believe in them. Be yourself and be the best that you can be!”
