SPCA responds to case of animal cruelty in Botshabelo

The Bloemfontein SPCA was recently called to the scene of a devastating case of animal abuse in Botshabelo.

According to Bloemfontein SPCA Inspector Lucky Olifant, a dog owner reported that his neighbour had deliberately attacked the dog with hot water.

“Upon arrival, our team had to work tirelessly to gain the trust of the terrified and severely injured dog,” explained Olifant. “Despite the trauma, we safely removed the dog and provided much-needed medical care.”

A swift response from local police lead to the suspect being arrested, and charges of animal cruelty were laid.

“Animal cruelty is a crime, and we urge the community to report any cases of abuse immediately,” said the inspector. “No animal deserves to suffer.”
