Song highlights ‘I can’t breathe’ campaign

Kabelo Moletsane and Kayode Abimbola

Bloemfontein singer, Kabelo Moletsane, together with producer Kayode Abimbola, better known as Kayswiss, has recently created a new song titled “I can’t breathe”, which will be released Tuesday, 16 June 2020.

According to Moletsane, the song, which will be his first single as a solo artist, was inspired by recent happenings in America. “This song is a plea to our leaders to do better, to the perpetrators to be better citizens, and for our victims to heal,” said Moletsane.

“I can’t breathe” were the last words by American citizen, George Floyd, as he was pleading for his life while a police officer was kneeling on his neck and he took his last breath. “I am a versatile singer, or rather a divergent, I believe as artists we are constantly developing and maybe one day I will decide to do one genre, but for now I’ll keep exploring.”

He is also currently doing his final year in theatre arts and drama, specialising in acting at the University of the Free State. “Music is my first love. I started singing from a very young age in primary school, participating in the school choir and local talent shows. In high school, while I was still in an acapella group of three, we participated in a national competition, SA’s Got Talent.

This particular competition was eyeopening, seeing how the people of South Africa were supportive towards my group,” concluded Moletsane.

The song will be available on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Tidal, YouTube, Shazam, Deezer, Napster and Google Music.
