Police have arrested the 34-year-old Kgosi Sehume after he had allegedly stabbed his 55-year-old father at their home in Mokwallo, Vredefort, in the Free State.
According to police spokesperson in the Free State, Josephine Rani, it is alleged that on the evening of Saturday 27 November, the suspect was at home with his girlfriend and his father, when a fight ensued over meat.
Rani said the suspect allegedly wanted to take the meat that the victim (his father) had bought, whereupon the victim refused. During the argument, the suspect allegedly stabbed his father twice under the left arm and ran away. Rani added that the victim tried to chase the suspect, but however, fell to the ground and passed away after sustaining two stab wounds. The neighbours had allegedly noticed the victim fall after hearing noises, and contacted the police.
The police arrested the suspect at the house of one of his friends, not far away from his home. Rani said the 34-year-old suspect appeared before the Vredefort Magistrate’s Court and is expected to reappear on 2 December for his bail application. He meanwhile will remain in police custody.
