July marks Mandela Month in South Africa, so to spread the joy and warmth, 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela gave residents of the Reënboog Old Age Home in Heidedal scarves.

Two residents, Elizabeth Badiroang and Miriam Sechele, said, “We’re very glad they came and we love the scarves.”

Lindiwe Mnguni of 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day said that they chose scarves because not only are their easier to make, they are able to reach more people.

Mnguni explained that they chose the centre in Heidedal not only for the elderly, but also for the children, who lived there.

More scarves will be distributed during the course of the month to those in need. Each scarf comes with an attached message reading, “I am not lost. If you are cold and need me, please take me. With love, 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day“.
