Residents in parts of the Free State will have to brace themselves for power outages for the next two days.
OFM News reports that this, as Eskom confirms work is underway to replace a transformer which failed on Saturday. The power utility says electricity supply to Bethulie and Springfontein has since been interrupted and it assures residents that repairs are underway.
The power utility’s Patricia Tsepane confirms these consumers will be without electricity supply on Monday and Tuesday due to repairs. She says they are expecting repairs to be completed by Wednesday and appeals to residents in these towns to treat all electrical installations as live and dangerous as electricity may be switched on without notice.
Meanwhile, those in the Lejweleputswa and Thabo Mofutsanyana Districts have been warned of load reductions during peak hours this evening and Tuesday morning. This, in efforts to avoid overloading the Eskom network and damage to infrastructure in high-density areas that are prone to network overloading.
