A decision has been taken that any Free State governmental department that fails to pay businesses within 30 days, its head of that particular department will be asked to go on leave.

He explained that it was important for big businesses to get paid on time by government. Zwane was speaking at the last day of the three day SMME’s and Co-operatives Indaba held at President Hotel, Bloemfontein on Wednesday.

He highlighted that a decision was also reached that small businesses be trained and supplied with equipment and big businesses should assists small businesses by creating a sustainable market for them. Zwane said they have created a conclusive environment with business people in the province.

“We are busy with plans in three categories of small businesses, SMME’s and big businesses that we will outline its plans sometime next week for the executive to adopt. We will then ensure that all those resolutions are implemented so that next when we meet once again, we will only be reporting back,” he said.

Zwane explained that they will annually meet to discuss how they have performed as government, how various businesses have grown, how many people were employed and what can be done moving forward.
