One of the suspects in the killing of well-known businessman, Louis Siemens, appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court today.
Siemens was gunned down in the basement parking area of the Preller Square shopping centre last Thursday afternoon.
The suspect, Stanley Bakili, made his first appearance today, after he was arrested only ‘n few hours after the shooting took place. The matter was postponed for bail application.
According to the prosecutor, Bakili was a former business associate of the deceased.
The court further heard that the accused has a pending fraud case against him and was previously fined R15 000 by South African Revenue Services for the same offence. Bakili was also found guilty of shoplifting in 1996.
The court also heard that the police linked the accused to the shooting through CCTV video footage as well as the fact that Bakili allegedly sent threatening messages to Siemens before the latter was killed in cold blood.
