With the hopes of leaving his mark in the music industry, rapper and songwriter Shaun Makharamedzha has launched his new EP, which can be described as “lyrical and heartfelt”.

Better known as Shaun Cross, the Bloemfontein-based artist started his music journey back in high school, and becoming a prominent rapper has since been his dream. After a break from the industry, the 24-year-old made a return in 2016, his talent blossomed, and he went on to win two trophies for Best Rap Act and Best Overall Performer alongside Sino Msolo in a talent show at the University of the Free State. In his new EP, “Heartless”, which was released on 5 February 2021, Cross tells a story of how his then girlfriend of three years broke their relationship.

He expresses his longing to win back her love and to restore things. His intriguing seven-track EP also features latent hit song, “You’re the one”, featuring Ellah K. Cross takes his listeners through a journey of emotions with beautiful melodies and backup vocals. According to him, the EP also addresses various issues like love, family and heartbreak. Cross, who is mainly known for his rapping abilities, told Bloemfontein Courant that he is not limited to rapping only.

“I am a creative rapper, by that I am indicating that I am not limited in terms of the instrumentals I rap on. I consciously rap maintaining and a unique and aggressive flow in most of my songs. I like to rhyme, tell a story and rap more about life, even though I have some club-banging songs,” said Cross. His new EP, “Heartless”, is available on all digital platforms, including Youtube, Apple Music and Spotify.
