RH Creations held a very successful seminar on women empowerment at the Kaiser Sebothelo Stadium on Sunday under the theme “Rise above failure, rejection and abuse and live your dreams”.
The aim of the seminar was to create a platform for women to tell their success stories in academics and business. It also focused on the challenges women are facing, such as domestic abuse.
The well attended event had women from all walks of life coming together to learn from each other and coming up with solutions.
Host Mpolokeng Lesole, founder of RH Creations, told Bloemfontein Courant, “As women we need to rise above failure and live our dreams, because we are facing not only physical abuse but also emotional abuse and that leaves women depressed. As women we need to love and protect each other.”
Boitumelo Dawn, MC at the event, said she has learned that women have to face huge challenges. “I have learned that we are strong human beings, but we lack true love for each other. We need to stop being bystanders while a fellow woman is being abused. We should stop taking out our phones and take a video to upload it on social media during incidents of abuse.”
Nthabiseng Manake, a local poet, said that her poems are aimed at celebrating women. “I would like to say to women that no matter the hardships you face, you are not alone. Coming to events like this teaches you that we should be our sisters’ keepers – not only our blood sisters but every woman out there. We need to learn to build up each other and stop turning our back when other women are being abused.” – Lebakeng Nkabi
