Security guards ‘help’ at prison

DUANE PETRUS – About 25 G4S security personnel are currently helping out at the Mangaung Correctional Facility while the majority of the staff have still not reported for work.
Director of contact management, Joe Mmako, says the security officials are assisting with patrols outside the prison, because they are not certified to work with the inmates.
Mmako says just about 107 people pitched up for work this morning, a little more than last week’s 95.
On Friday, the facility made a second court order this year to demand the staff to return to work.
About 300 employees have not reported for work since Wednesday, saying they feel unsafe at the prison and requesting some senior staff members to be placed on special leave.
