Second set for 100th first-class match

The VKB Knights batsman-wicketkeeper, Rudi Second, will be playing in his 100th first-class game as from Monday when they face Dolphins in Kimberley in the Domestic 4-Day Series.

Last week, Second, was instrumental in the Knights nearly forcing a draw against the Cape Cobras at Newlands in Cape Town, in the opening match of the season.

Second, scored 47 runs in the first innings, and contributed with 23 in the second innings.

In his career, Second has scored 17 first-class centuries and 30 fifties, at an average of 45.11 runs, with a highest score of 211.

Over the last couple of seasons, the reliable and consistent player has become a regular in the South African A setup and has been knocking on the door of the Proteas.

At this stage, he is third in line to don the gloves in Test cricket behind Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen.

Last season, Second, received a nomination for the CSA Sunfoil Series Player of the Year Award.

Play at the Diamond Oval is set to get underway at 10:00 on Monday morning. – MORGAN PIEK
