OMS wéér Vrystaat se nr. 2 in atletiek

Oranje-atletiek se reuse-opgang is die naweek op die Vrystaatkampioenskappe in Sasolburg beklemtoon. Die 24 goue- en totaal van 56 medaljes was in albei gevalle die 2de meeste ná Voortrekker Bethlehem. Dit maak Oranje wéér die Vrystaatse naasbeste atletiekskool (uit die 188 deelnemende skole).

Onze Rust Primary School

On Tuesday 28 February, the school had play-offs for the Motheo Mini World Cup Challenge at Fichardtpark Primary School. Each school was given a country to represent in this World Cup and they rep-resented Australia. They ended up winning the Motheo play-offs and participated in Welkom (24 March) representing the Motheo District in the Free State Mini World Cup Challenge.

Eunice Primary School

On 3 and 4 March, ten Eunice athletes competed in the competitive Free State Athletics Championships held in Sasolburg. These athletes bagged a total of 9 medals, an incredible feat for a small squad. The medallists (1 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze) were (u14s) Camilyn Parkin second in 400m; Sade Gird second in the long jump; Mika-Leigh Strydom second in 800m and second in 1500m; (u15s) Megan Bezuidenhout first in the high jump; (u16s) Inge van Staden second in 400m, third in 800m and third in 1500m; and 3rd in the 4x100m relay (Olwam Delihlazo, Inge van Staden, Ruvimbo Pasipamire and Leecha Swanepoel)

Megan Bezuidenhout: She jumped a height of 1.64m, which is excellent! A full 9cm higher than the national qualifying standard.

SMS launches driving simulator

The driving simulation was launched at the school for the High School learners to resemble real driving. The simulator monitors and records a scholar’s performance so that they know what they can work on and be better prepared to drive in real time.

Bloem High student goes for the gold

Merlique May from Bloemfontein High School received two gold medals at the recent Motheo/ Xhariep Athletics Championships. Here he is with the two gold medals he received for two first positions at the boys u/17 High Jump, with a height of 1.83m, and the Long Jump, with a distance of 6.15m. Merlique further participated in the Free State High Schools Athletics Championships in Sasolburg.
