The officers at the Park Road Police Station seek assistance from the public to help solve a car hijacking and murder case. The car hijacking and murder case occurred on Sunday 28 January 2024.
At around 09:30, a complaint was received and the patrol vehicle was dispatched. Members arrived at Rooidam near Lourier Park where a white Volkswagen Golf 1 was set alight.
The vehicle’s windows were shattered and a charred human body was found inside the vehicle. The body was burnt beyond recognition.
The South African Police Services (SAPS)Â said various crime scene experts were summoned to process the scene and a case of murder was opened at Park Road Police Station.
In a statement, SAPS said a preliminary investigation was started and the police discovered a case of hijacking was opened at the Kagisanong Police Station.
According to the report, a 26-year-old man from Freedom Square alleged he was driving along Taelo Molosioa Street when two men stopped him and asked for a lift. He alleged one of them pulled out a firearm and hijacked his white Volkswagen Golf 1.
He described one of the suspects as light in complexion with a beard. The suspect was dressed in a black t-shirt and black bermuda shorts.
The second suspect was described as chubby, bearded and dark in complexion; he was wearing khaki chinos, a pink shirt, and a white hat. The suspects drove off towards Tau Street.
