The safety of people at events is an important thing organizers priorities. According to Major Nhlapo of the Park Road SAPS , the presence of the South African Police Services at the MACUFE Craft Market is to ensure a safe and secure environment for all the people attending the event.
“The event is attended by responsible people and therefore we don’t experience any crime at the market. However, we work in partnership with security guards to ensure that everyone is safe,” Nhlapo says.
She also says it’s important to have a working relationship with the organizers and meet well in advance to plan the event.
She lastly says they hope to have a crime-free event at the Craft Market, adding that SAPS is there to support events that involve the community, especially young people and that she is aware of the existence of CUT FM.
