An SA Air Force member based at the Bloemspruit Air Force Base appeared again in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court today. Simphiwe Magudulela’s is due back in court on September 17.
"The accused was sent for one day psychiatric evaluation last week, and the psychiatrist who evaluated him made a recommendation that he be brought to the psychiatric hospital for 30 days. The matter was postponed to 17 September for arrangements to be made regarding his admission," said Phaladi Shuping, National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson.
Magudulela is facing a murder charge after he allegedly shot a soldier and wounded another at the Air Base, outside Bloemfontein, two weeks ago.
SA National Defence Force spokesperson Xolani Mabanga said earlier the motive behind the shooting is unclear and is under investigation.
