SAMWU Intensifies Mangaung Strike

The South African Municipal Workers’ Union will be intensifying its strike action at the Mangaung Metro Municipality after a meeting with the employer collapsed on Thursday, 18 May 2017.

Samwu’s provincial chairperson, Congo Matshepe says members of the community have been mobilised to join the strike as issues which have been raised by workers directly affect them. He says the municipality is unwilling to negotiate in good faith, and would not concede where they had erred on issues of law.

Meanwhile motorists have been advised to avoid the Bram Fisher Building area as rocks are apparently being thrown at cars.
