The SA Armour Corps and SA Armour Museum are in high spirits and would like the public to attend and share their 70th birthday on 22 October 2016 at the Tempe Military Base.
The day’s activities include static and interactive displays, a PC-based tank simulator sponsored by Incredible Connections for kids and those young at heart to test their armoured warfare skills, military themed stalls which will sell, among others, the new range of high-quality A4 prints of SANDF vehicles sold by the museum, a special incentive for families that will involve an online quiz with questions on museum attractions, displays and history. Being cognisant of young people’s aptitude for all things digital, the quiz will be accessed with a cellphone by scanning a QR code on entry. Participants stand a chance to win an A4 SANDF vehicle print. A mini war is also planned between armoured vehicles.
Businesses have an opportunity to sponsor a static military vehicle and thereby market their business with a company sign at the base of the vehicle. The funds will be used for restoration and maintenance of museum assets to preserve our military heritage.
In essence the SA Armour Museum is the place to be on Saturday 22 October, whether you are a veteran, looking for something to do as a family, or just fascinated by all things military. Gates open at 8:00 and close at 16:00.
Tickets are R10 for adults, R5 for youth under 18 years, and available at the gate.
