The Border Bulldogs rugby player Johannes Seerane is in a serious but stable condition. Bloemfontein Mediclinic’s spokesperson Amanda Applegryn says Seerane is in the Intensive Unit Care (ICU).
Seerane was in an accident outside De Aar in the Northern Cape on Sunday. It is reported that he was travelling from East London in the Eastern Cape where his rugby team is based to North West.
Applegryn says Seerane was transferred yesterday by an ambulance from De Aar Hospital to Bloemfontein.
“He has sustained very severe burn injuries in the accident. He went to theatre yesterday for treatment of his skin and he is on a ventilator.
" According to the information that I have received from his family, he lost control of his vehicle, which rolled several times and caught fire,” she says.
Applegryn says before the accident Seerane had a problem with his car’s wheel and stopped for it to be repaired but it seemed the problem continued. She says he was travelling alone and no any other vehicle was involved in the accident.
The 26 year-old Seerane previously played for the North West University (NWU) Pukke Squad, Limpopo Blue Bulls and Platinum Leopards amongst other teams.
