Bloemfontein – Former World number one, Roger Federer has been seeded seventh for the upcoming US Open. This is the first time in 10 years the Swiss master of tennis has been ranked outside the top three for a Grand Slam.
Federer’s record 17 Grand Slam titles include five at the US Open. He’s among five former champions in the men’s field, including No 1-seeded Novak Djokovic, No 2 Rafael Nadal, and No 3 Andy Murray, who won the 2012 title.
The world fourth tennis Grand Slam starts next Monday at Flushing Meadows in New York.
The women’s seedings will be made tomorrow.
