Locals are invited to immerse themselves in what the Rhapsody Orchestra calls a “musical journey that seamlessly blends the world of classical and jazz with an American Rhapsody on 16 March 2024”.

According to the orchestra, proceeds from the first concert of 2024’s season tickets will go towards raising funds for the Rhapsody in Bloem Bursary Fund.

“This concert is suitable for all ages and is especially accessible to concertgoers who have never experienced an orchestral concert.

We promise a friendly and comfortable atmosphere for both new and seasoned music lovers to enjoy,” reads a statement by the Rhapsody Orchestra.

The evening will feature Heinrich Lategan as the conductor and Petro Engelbrecht on the piano from 19:00 at the Odeion School of Music at the University of the Free State Campus in Bloemfontein.

Tickets cost R100 per person and R50 concessions – for children under 18 and pensioners over 65. Tickets will be available at the door, or book tickets via Whatsapp at 073-651-2611.

“The Rhapsody Orchestra is a community orchestra and non-profit organisation founded in 2020 by Heinrich Lategan and several Bloemfontein musicians who felt a need to rehearse and make music together on a regular basis.”
