Residents of Phokeng in Thabong, Welkom, yesterday took to the local offices of Eskom to express their anger of being without electricity for almost three weeks.
A meeting was held behind closed doors under the observation of police between the ward councillor, Eskom management and delegates from the residents.
OFM News spoke to councillor Teboho Lushaba, who confirmed that Phokeng residents had no electricity for about three weeks. He said that the reason was faulty transformers. Lushaba explained that Phokeng has seven transformers and Eskom agreed to switch on six transformers yesterday and will switch it off again today (Wednesday, 07 August) in a haste to fix the problem. It will be switched on again this afternoon.
One of the community representatives, Maloisane Majola, said that they are happy with the cooperation and help from Eskom.
