Residents of Ward 46 plan renewed protest over ongoing neglect by MMM

It has been over a month since the residents of Ward 46 took to the streets to protest, demanding urgent intervention from the Mangaung Metro Municipality (MMM). During the initial protest, municipal representatives accepted a letter outlining the community’s challenges and promised to provide feedback within seven days.

However, according to the residents, no follow-up meeting ever occurred. They accuse the municipality of continuously backtracking on its commitment. With their frustrations mounting, the community is now planning a renewed protest, demanding that the municipality address their ongoing challenges, which include:

  • Inadequate water and sanitation services,

  • Poor road infrastructure,

  • Delays in the processing and finalisation of permits.

The residents say they feel ignored and are calling on the municipality to prioritise their needs without further delay.
