An informal run in honour of the late Rufus Botha will be held in Bloemfontein on Saturday 11 January 2020.
According to a notice issued by Pentagon Pistols, the run will start at Preller Square (Graaff-Reinet Street, Dan Pienaar, in front of Spar) at 05:30.
Proceedings will start at 05:00 and will take the form of a remembrance event where attendees will be allowed a short impromptu opportunity to honour the legend that Rufus was. The honours will be closed with a prayer and route description.
The route will be a slow paced run of either 5,8 or 10 kilometres. There will be no further formalities after the run.
“This will be an opportunity to honour the man who did so much for the sport we all love, and to come together as a running community. Kindly note that this is an informal event, therefore, please be considerate when parking and for your own safety on the road,” the notice reads.
