The Mangaung Metro Municipality’s Head of the Department for Community Services, Dr Thabang Thinda, is an avid advocate for reclaiming the City of Roses by collaborating with various stakeholders, including the government, private sector, and community at large.
Thinda mentioned that a few of the focal points that he aspires to refurbish during his tenure as the HOD include the rehabilitation of recreational parks, rehabilitation and maintenance of all sports facilities, as well as ensuring the safety and tidiness of the cemeteries and the community as a whole.
“My focal point is reaching out to the community at large. It is time that we bring back the famous and beautiful City of Roses by tidying up our city, ensuring that we also harness talent at the grassroots level and collaborate as a whole to ensure that we as residents of the city reclaim it.
We cannot do it alone as the municipality, all of us need to join hands to reclaim the city with the help of the national and provincial government,” said Thinda.
The HOD of Community Services will be launching a variety of wardbased clean-up operations and has already launched fighting substance abuse through sports. “In order to avoid issues of noncompliance, community service projects needs to be done efficiently and effectively,” concluded Thinda.
