The Royal Bafokeng Stadium in the North West mining town of Rustenburg has officially been announced as the latest venue for SA rapper Cassper Nyovest’s ongoing #FillUp series to the dismay of some Bloemfontein residents.

The rapper made the announcement on social media platforms on Monday evening, stating the event will occur on December 15 in his home province, the North West. Nyovest’s #FillUP series began in 2015 when he attempted to fill the Ticketpro dome in Johannesburg, Gauteng, a feat that had allegedly never been done before by a South African. Since then, the #FillUP series has grown moving to the FNB stadium near Soweto in 2017. The rapper has attempted to have the trend trademarked after Tsonga musician Benny Mayengani used the phrase to draw crowds to his concert at Giyani Stadium.

While the North West Nyovest fans are thrilled at the news, a few Bloemfontein fans are not so enthusiastic, expressing their discontent on social media after hoping the rapper would bring the series to the Free State capital.
