Rapist sentenced to life imprisonment

Convicted rapist Lehlohonolo Tsokodibane (23) was recently sentenced to life imprisonment at the Thaba Nchu Regional Court for the rape of a 21-year-old woman in 2019.

The victim’s ordeal started at a local tavern in Zone 1, Selosesha on 21 July 2019 at around 01:40. When she left the tavern she met Tsokodibane at the door of the establishment.

According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, the victim ran home as it was cold on that day. As she was running, she realised that Tsokodibane was following her.

“She stopped and asked him why he was following her. He forcefully dragged her to his sister’s place where he overpowered and raped her. During the ordeal the victim tried to fight the rapist, but he assaulted her with a fist,” said Makhele.

Tsokodibane only allowed the victim to return home around 03:30 after opening the door for her to leave. The victim then went to her boyfriend’s residence, after which the boyfriend took her to her parents’ house and the local police were summond.

Makhele said as a result of the thorough investigation done by Detective Constable Mokho Masilo, the accused was apprehended on the same day and had been in police custody ever since.
