This past weekend the beauties from Random Modelling Agency (RMA) in Bloemfontein allowed the community to shop until they dropped from a heap of donated clothing and shoes.
They brought the Heidedal community together when they hosted their first street mall. This was an initiative that has been an idea for a while but finally came to life this Saturday. The aim of the street mall was to identify people in the community who needed clothing and allow them to take what fits them.
The founder and managing director, Beauchachia Hurst, told Bloemfontein Courant that the street mall was a huge success. “We received big donations on the day from clothing stores. They gave us shoes for all sizes,” she said.
One of the food stores in Bloemfontein even donated bread for the soup that was made by the modelling agency to be handed out to the people. They even rewarded children with teddy bears after they had hosted a modelling competition for all the children present.
Hurst said that they would like to thank everyone for believing in their vision and that the next street mall will much bigger. – Sazly Hartzenberg
