Duane Petrus – The bail application of four police constables accused of terrorising communities in Ficksburg was denied today.
These four are part of a group dubbed the Rambo squad and are currently facing 20 charges ranging from assault to kidnapping along with 13 other colleagues.
Tshepo Ramathokga is the latest officer to be implicated in the scandal and was released on a warning today.
The remaining twelve other officers were also arrested two weeks ago and were granted bail on the same day of their arrests. Samson Pokedi, Johannes Sefatsa, Matthews Radebe and Stephen Molete were first arrested in August last year. Eight people have laid complaints against the group.
The case resumes in the town’s magistrate court on 27 March.
