The last few weeks I have spent a lot of time helping couples. One thing I immediately noticed is the challenge of having to do what is necessary to be truly free. One of the main things that prevents us from living the life Jesus came to give us, is forgiveness.
We mostly think we really set people free from what they have done to us, just to realise years later that we are still not free from this. When I do a forgiveness session with someone it amazes me how much easier we forgive others than ourselves. It is as if we think that we have to pay the price of suffering for making the same stupid mistakes over and over again. Maybe it is just one major choice we made that ended up changing the whole journey of our life. Then we find ourselves saying “If only I didn’t…”
Jesus has already paid the price for our mistakes. We just need to bring them to the cross and repent. Pursue what Jesus is offering you today: freedom from feeling condemnation; grab it and accept this gift.
“I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience His resurrection power, be a partner in His suffering, and go all the way with Him to death itself.”(Philippians 3:10 MSG)
