The Pure Adventures Trail Run Series, which kicked off in July 2019, is giving back to numerous charities in Bloemfontein and with the events taking place in great natural surroundings, the series offers runners a fun way to experience trail running.

Pure Adventure’s Adrian Saffy told Bloemfontein Courant that each run in this 5-event series will be hosted by an event partner and R20 of the entry fee will be donated to a charity of that event partner’s choice. “We have cut away with all the bells and whistles of the event, so instead of giving the same medal to every runner, we decided that we are going to donate a R20 from the entries towards a charity or NPO.”

The first run was held at the Happy Valley Conservancy and the event partner, Bloemfontein Courant, chose New Beginnings Rescue Centre as its charity. The rescue centre, which rescues and helps with the rehabilitation of abused and neglected animals, received the donations to help it in the fight against animal abuse and taking care of our four-legged friends.

The second trail run took place on 16 August 2019 at the Brandkop Conservancy and was presented by Van der Walt Optometrists, who chose The Character Company as its charity. The Character Company is a long-term mentorship programme which provides fatherless boys with mentors.

The next trail runs will take place on 27 September, 18 October, and 23 November 2019.
