Locals can take part in the Pure Adventure Trail Series on Saturday which promises to be a fun way to experience trail running. Kicking off at 08:00, the series will be taking place at Happy Valley Conservancy where five trails runs will be held.
Pure Adventure’s Adrian Saffy expressed that the trails will be set in great natural surroundings. “Pure Adventures were the first organisers to organise a trail running series in Bloemfontein and we have been doing so for a decade. Previously as part of the Castle Lite Trail series and now we are doing it under our own banner,” he said.
“The idea is to create a fun safe environment for runners to experience proper trail running in awesome natural surroundings and so get into the trail running scene,” said Saffy. The series on Saturday 20 July 2019 is the start of various trails that will take place this year including 16 August, 27 September, 18 October, and 23 November 2019.
“Each run will be hosted by an event partner and R20 of the entry fee will be donated to a charity of that event partner’s choice. The Saturday runs will start at 08:00, registration starts from 07:00 and the Friday runs will start at 18:00 with registration starting from 17:00,” said Saffy. Entry fees are R60 for 5km and R90 for 10km runs.
He stated that all adventurers are welcome to take part, even walkers. “Everyone who wants to get out there get a bit fitter and immerse themselves in nature and the outdoors. Our runs are for all levels including walkers,” he added.
Organisers expect an estimated turnout of between 150 to 220 participants. “It is quite a technical challenging course but if you find the terrain too technical you can just walk until you feel comfortable to run again,” added Saffy. – Nomaqhawe Mtebele
