DUANE PETRUS – A 15-year-old gun-wielding pupil shot his teacher in the leg at a school in Sasolburg in the Free State this morning. Police spokesperson Sellwane Mapamela, says the incident took place Sasolburg High School around 10:45. Mapamela says the three students reported to the deputy-principal after that the boy was following them. When she confronted him, he pointed his grandfather’s gun and pulled the trigger, but the shot did not go off. He then fled and one of two teachers who tried to disarm him while trying to flee was hit by a bullet during the struggle.
The boy will face charges on pointing a firearm and attempted murder, while the teacher was transported to hospital. He is in a stable condition.
