The Mangaung Metro in the Free State hopes to embark on a public participation process this week before water restrictions can be implemented in the metro. Spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, says the council decided in August that the implementation of water restrictions can only take place after a process of public consultation has been followed.
He says the office of the speaker is expected to brief all local councillors with regard to water restrictions tomorrow. He says the public participation process is expected to start on Thursday.
Khedama says the metro is aware of the seriousness of the implementations of water restrictions, but the public needs to be consulted first before any restrictions can be implemented.
