Pretorius excited to work with AD and Gerald

The 25-year-old seamer, Migael Pretorius, looks forward to resuming his first-class career at the VKB Knights next season after signing with the Central franchise.

Pretorius joins the Knights from the defending CSA Domestic Four-Day series champions, the Highveld Lions.

The Vereeniging-born Pretorius has just 30 first-class games to his name, but has already taken over 100 wickets, while with the bat has three fifties with a highest score of 81*.

Pretorius told Bloemfontein Courant that he is relishing the opportunity to work with the Knights’ young seam attack and the newly appointed head coach, Allan Donald.

“It wasn’t a difficult decision for me to join the Knights. With regards to being in Bloem, culture wise I think that I will fit in with the team very nicely. It will be nothing funny for me. I have family living in the Free State so that part is not funny for me.

“It is always the first month or two that is a bit different after moving, but with that comes the excitement of knowing that I am going to be working with Allan Donald and be part of a very good team. It is a youngish side, which is also a good thing.

“There are guys like Gerald Coetzee, Duan Jansen and Alfred Mothoa and is great to know that we are going to be working together.”

Other new players contracted for the upcoming season include Ferisco Adams, Duan Jansen, Matthew Kleinveldt, Alfred Mothoa, Jacques Snyman and Jonathan Vandiar.
The coach, Donald, is officially in charge of the team as from Friday, 1 May.

Meanwhile, the former Knights and SA U19 seamer, Corné Dry, has taken up a provincial contract with KwaZulu-Natal Coastal may be fielded by the Dolphins during the upcoming season. – MORGAN PIEK
