Free State government offices at Lebogang building has been evacuated after a ‘suspicious’ package in the form of a white powder was found in the premier’s office this afternoon.
The package was suspected to be a bomb and police were called to the scene to investigate. Police Spokesperson, Chaka Marope, says the premier’s office is considered a national key point and their explosive unit was immediately deployed to investigate.
“Our bomb experts and forensic experts were dispersed to the scene. All the officials in the building were evacuated and at this stage the experts are still sweeping the place,” said Marope.
Forensics are currently sweeping the building and hundreds of officials have been evacuated from the building until it is declared safe.
