The Free State Department of Education will on Sunday, 18 August 2019 host a prayer service for about 800 grade 12 learners from identified Mangaung township schools.
According to the FSDE the prayer service, which will be held at Eagle Christian Church, aimed at seeking divine intervention for learners before the trial examinations, starting on 20 August.
According to the departmental spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, the Free State Department of Education greatly believes that learners need more than academic support to perform well in their examinations.
The prayer service will be attended by about 800 learners from Secondary schools such as Hodisa, Lereko, Moemedi, Ikaelelo, Kaelang, Tsoseletso and Lekhulong. “Churches have the ability to help learners holistically,” says Free State Department of Education MEC, Dr Tate Makgoe.
Attendees of the prayer service, which will include department senior managers, district managers, church leaders and congregants will be dressed in their graduation regalia to encourage and motivate learners.
